I have worked with Wordpress blog sites before and enjoy the freedom of creating custom page designs, custom pages, and adding plug-ins to help me keep the site organized. I don't know what features, if any, Posterous is working on since I haven't been posting or reading the Posterous blog in some time.
I have plans to have a few new things on my blog that may be of some use to readers, particularly programmers (
asp.net & other projects). There may be an opportunity to also deliver premium content that I have planned. I love the service that Posterous offers and would like to keep my blog on Posterous, but thought that some of these features would be of use to other Posterous users.
Feature List (not in any particular order) - Posterous may be working on this already
- Custom Pages (About Me, Services, Projects, etc)
- Access to limited folders (images, css, js, html)
- eCommerce integration
- AdSense or Sidebar HTML/JS plug-in to allow for ad scripts
- SEO settings & configurations (sitemaps, meta for individual pages, etc)
Again, I have not checked out what features Posterous has been working on so I may have pointed out features that are already available. I know that I can customize the layout and it seems like I can add some basic SEO stuff and maybe some javascript, but I would like to get down and dirty. Maybe my best bet is to switch back to a Wordpress site and have the posts submit to my Posterous account, but then I lose the automatic post functionality that I love.
Also, I may have just found an opportunity for a new business idea from writing this post. I'll have to put it through my new business idea testing.
